** The Master's Capstone is the final course taken as part of the ISP degree sequence. Because the final, culminating product of this course and your master's degree will be to create an ePortfolio representing your work in the program, it may not be taken concurrently with another course except for the web-based portion of an Earth Expeditions filed course. This course may also be offered during the spring semester for students with delayed graduation.
The following two options are designed to fulfill the needs of our diverse pool of applicants.

You should begin your course of study by signing up for ZOO 608 - Biodiversity and ZOO 698H - Using Animals in the Classroom. These courses will be taken concurrently. Upon completion you can then sign-up for other courses later in the summer. For more information contact: Dr. Richard Lee (e-mail: leere@muohio.edu or phone: 513 529 3141).

Note: Participants need to take one course from each department (Botany, Microbiology, and Zoology)
These courses are the core of the ISP program. A selection of courses will be offered by the Departments of Botany, Microbiology and Zoology at Miami University. (Note: The option of taking a Field Expedition course through Miami University or Earth Expeditions is available).
Web-based coursework includes Learning Community courses and Advanced Seminars. Courses cover a range of topics, such as conservation science, social change, and action research. Please refer to master's course description for further descriptions of these courses.
This web-based course is required of all Master's candidates. The general idea is for participants to assume a leadership role in their community and share their expertise, experiences, and skills.
This web-based course facilitates the development of a final portfolio (i.e. teaching or working) based on experiences throughout the degree program. The Capstone course is taken in the last semester of the degree program. Because the final, culminating product of this course and your master's degree will be to create an ePortfolio representing your work in the program, it may not be taken concurrently with another course except for the web-based portion of an Earth Expedition field course.
35 credit hours total: 25 hours of Summer Courses at Miami University and 10 hours web-based courses (3 Learning Community courses, the LSI course, and Capstone). A portfolio that can be adapted, if desired, for National Board Certification. MA students develop a work portfolio suitable for their professional environment.
