People are encouraged to apply by March 28, however applications will be gladly accepted at any time.
35 credit hours completed over approximately 2.5 years, comprised of summer courses (25 credit hours), Web-based learning communities (10 credit hours) and completion of a portfolio. MAT students will be required to complete a teaching portfolio that can be adapted for National Board Certification requirements, and MA candidates will develop a work portfolio suitable for their work environment.
Which degree is for me?
Apply to the MAT if you fall in any of the following categories: 1) you are certified to teach, 2) you have an academic degree in education or education related field (i.e., bachelor's or master's), or 3) you have taught or teach in a k-12 school.
The MA is a degree option for any applicant with a bachelor's interested in advancing their career through global leadership, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.
Note: The MAT program does not confer a teaching license. Applicants with no education background should apply for the MA, not the MAT degree.
Summer courses are offered every summer and web-based courses are offered fall/spring.

Note: Participants will need to fulfill the minimum Graduate School GPA requirements for admission to the program - details here.
Only the following Miami credits are transferable into the ISP:
Up to 7 credits from past Earth Expeditions or equivalent off-campus field courses (with an earned grade of B or higher) may be applied towards the ISP, taking the place of up to 7 credits of the 25 credits of summer courses required.
Up to 3 credits from a past Zoo Expedition course or an iDiscovery course from Miami University (with an earned grade of B or higher) can replace 3 credits of the 25 credits of summer courses required.
No more than one course worth up to 7 credit hours from the above categories can be transferred into the ISP.
Note: No other credits can be transferred into the ISP. No exceptions can be made to the transfer credit policy.
