Zoology/Project Dragonfly: Programmer will work with a creative team to produce a variety of learning systems and public interactives for national and global audiences; assignments include writing code to create software that runs in either a web browser or in a desktop application and writing code that allows that software/application to communicate with servers over the internet.
Require: Undergraduate coursework or equivalent in Computer Science, MIS or related field; strong object-oriented software development skills; experience or a strong interest and aptitude for developing in Ruby on Rails (RoR) environment or equivalent web framework; experience developing Flash ActionScript/JavaScript or equivalent scripting language; good documentation skills; commitment to working in a team environment; willingness to develop new skills.
Desire: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field, including courses in Client Server Systems, Computer and Network Security, and Comparative Programming Languages; experience with multiple programming languages, including HTML/HTML5/CSS, Ruby/Ruby on Rails, Bash Scripting, JavaScript, Flash ActionScript/Flex, and SQL; familiarity with agile software development practices; experience managing a MySQL database on web servers and experience setting up and maintaining Linux web servers; interest in engaging audiences in science, cooperative learning, and environmental stewardship.

The student worker will perform a variety of IT assignments including both software development and hardware configuration. Student should have some experience and/or completed coursework in Computer Science, MIS, or related field. Knowledge of Flex/AS3, HTML, Javascript, CSS, Ruby on Rails, Bash, or OSX is a plus.
Minimum Requirements: Some experience and/or completed undergraduate coursework in Computer Science, MIS or related field. Hours: 15 - 20 hrs per week
